The project of prof. dr hab. Przemysław Hensel from the Faculty of Management “Simulated-based veryfication of the credibility of scientific literature based on archival data in the field of discrimination research” was funded in the competition for research projects at the Centre of Excellence in Social Sciences.
The project received funding in the amount of 39 162,00 PLN.
The aim of the study is to determine the reliability of scientific findings on discrimination based on secondary data. It is known that one of the main tasks of social sciences is to document discrimination, but at the same time, the replication crisis indicates that many research findings may be unreliable due to the use of questionable research practices. Previous analyses of the occurrence of such practices have mainly focused on experimental studies, as detecting dubious results obtained from secondary data is more challenging. The planned study will use Monte Carlo simulation to estimate the extent to which the published literature on discrimination may be distorted by results obtained through the use of questionable research practices.
