Adi Weidenfeld addresses ESPON Conference on Revitalising Europe’s Economic Base

In June 2025, A. Weidenfeld delivered a series of high-level presentations across Europe, addressing key challenges and developments in territorial cohesion, tourism, and regional resilience.
At the ESPON Territorial Research Conference in Brussels (4 June), he was a panel speaker on Revitalising Europe’s Economic Base through innovative spatial frameworks aimed at enhancing both competitiveness and cohesion across European territories.
On the 13th of June he hosted Geography Students from the University of Greifswald in Germany in collaboration with the University of Warsaw Geography department and EUROREG. As a keynote speaker at the XIII International Scientific Conference on Spa, Hotel and Tourism in Kraków (10 June), he examined the iconisation and iconicity of modern and historical structures, offering a comparative tourism perspective on how iconic landmarks shape visitor experiences and destination identity. Earlier, at the Regional Studies Association Annual Conference in Porto (6-9 May), Weidenfeld addressed the resilience of SMEs in less advanced border regions, focusing on how these businesses navigate geopolitical uncertainties and contribute to regional transformation as well as municipal knowledge networks and their systemic effectiveness.
